The Halloween Adventures
Before Halloween Celebrations
It’s been a blustery early-Halloweenish day at the cabin with the grandkids, my son Jeremy and his fiancé, Erika. Literally. Erika decorated the cabin for Halloween and pumpkins outside waited to be carved.
The temperature dropped down 20 degrees overnight and a windstorm blew through last night. It’s still windy today. I love how the tops of the trees swish and sway and then the wind makes its way further down little by little. There are so many trees on the property and beyond that they can’t even get internet out here, so I’m on my hot spot in low data mode. Isaak and Charlotte are taking a nap right now. When they wake up, we’ll carve pumpkins and make Halloween cupcakes and I’ll play more spooky songs on the ukulele. I already played and sang Monster Mash. Charlotte and Isaak loved it so much that I had to play it twice because they were dancing to the song. Sooo cute!
It’s a short visit though because I leave tomorrow morning for Beatles Day — Niles 2022 and then Erika and Jeremy must take Jeremiah and Charlotte back home to Cool, California. Isaak already said he always misses them when they leave. One of the major challenges of co-parenting, sigh. But everyone is learning and growing, and it’s getting better all the time.
We played outside for a while, and the doggies did their retrieve-the-ball thing together again. I tried to throw a different ball for Jaeger. It didn’t matter to him that his brother Klaus always got the ball and ran it back. He was still in the game. I treasure this time with all my grandkids and my son and daughter-in-law together at the cabin in the woods.
